Major determining factors in the cost of a liposuction treatment include the number of areas being treated and the amount of fat being removed. Liposuction is often combined with other procedures, which can also make a tremendous difference in cost. In the case of a tummy tuck, liposuction is usually a given, and liposuction is factored into the estimate your surgeon provides. Does the patient wish to transfer liposuctioned fat to other areas, such as the breast, face, or biceps? In general, one could say that a breast augmentation using transferred fat costs about as much as augmentation using implants.
Among the benefits are an improved appearance, a reduction in the size of stretched areolae and more youthful, feminine proportions, which has the added benefit of helping bras and swimsuits fit more comfortably and attractively. The surgery ultimately hopes to make the breasts look better proportioned, after birth or simply to rectify the issues of aging.
Thursday's launch marks SpaceX's 18th cargo run to the International Space Station. The Dragon supply ship atop the Falcon 9 was making its third trip to the lab complex, this time loaded with 5,000 pounds of crew supplies, equipment and high-tech science gear, including a low-tech container of bright green Nickelodeon "slime" for educational outreach. Watch the rocket launch here.
During the course of a woman’s life, the breasts change in appearance and oftentimes sag. Don’t worry, this is NOT an uncommon condition. In fact, the clinical term for female breasts that sag is called ‘breast ptosis.’ There are many causes of breast ptosis including pregnancy, cigarette smoking, high body mass, gravity and the natural aging process. There are also different degrees of ptosis as shown in the illustration below. Fortunately, breast ptosis can easily be treated with breast lift surgery.
Liposuction is a procedure that can be performed either under local or general anesthesia. Local anesthesia allows you to remain conscious during surgery, but the treatment area is numbed so you will not feel any discomfort. This option can cost about $100 or more per hour. General anesthesia is used to completely sedate the patient. If it is administered by a nurse, general anesthesia can cost $300 or more per hour. When it is administered by an anesthesiologist, it can cost $450 or more per hour. Deciding which method of anesthesia to use largely depends on the extent of treatment. If the patient is having a small amount of fat removed, local anesthesia may be sufficient. On the other hand, if the patient is having extensive liposuction performed, or if it is being performed in conjunction with other procedures, general anesthesia will probably be the best option.

In contrast to laser-assisted liposuction, laser fat reduction does not involve any incisions or downtime. Treatments such as Zerona® and i-lipo TM use cool, safe lasers to break down fat cells. These treatments can physically shrink the fat cells and enable your body to expel them naturally during the detoxification process. Procedures can last between 20 minutes and an hour, although techniques such as i-lipo typically involve a multi-treatment regimen. However, some experts believe that laser therapy can only remove fat cells that are close to the skin, leaving the deeper cells unaffected.

While cost is obviously an important consideration when it comes to liposuction, it is not the most important one. Patients should remember that their health and cosmetic satisfaction are ultimately the top priorities. Choosing an inexperienced doctor to save some money could cost far more in the long run if they require a corrective procedure or if they develop serious health complications.
However, minimizing the appearance of scars on the breast will be of vital importance to your surgeon. The whole point of a breast lift procedure is to make the breast more attractive, and conspicuous or heavy scarring defeats that point. Most scars will typically heal and fade within two years, but will always be present. Your surgeon will consider it a part of their job to keep these scars discrete, not a bonus. They may also prescribe cortisone cream and use silicone sheeting to help reduce the appearance of scars after surgery.
The horizontal mastopexy goes by many names, including the “Horndesky Method” and “Ultimate Lift.” This technique enables surgeons to create a new position for the nipple without leaving a vertical scar from the areola to the breast crease. Instead, a horizontal incision is made across the entire breast above the areola, and the surgeon excises the skin below it while preserving the nipple.
Whether you are expecting to pay for liposuction completely out of pocket, or if you are eligible for some degree of insurance coverage, you have absolutely nothing to lose by contemplating what you really hope to achieve, and discussing those goals with the most reputable surgeon in your area. You may be surprised to find that your surgeon offers more budget-friendly options and accommodations than you anticipate.
It's not unusual to see lumpy areas after the swelling starts to go down. This should improve after a few weeks, but wearing a compression garment can help prevent lumps. Less commonly, patients can have a hematoma (a temporary pooling of blood under the skin) or seroma (a pocket of fluid under the skin that requires draining by your doctor); changes in skin color or sensation; or scarring from thermal burning, either above or below the skin (usually an issue only with laser- and ultrasound-assisted lipo, if skin ports aren’t used). If you’re concerned about anything you experience as you recover, don’t hesitate to call your doctor.
At first, liposuction results may seem minimal. This is standard, as swelling and bruising can obscure the final effects. Skin in the treated area may also appear loose, as it takes time for your body to adjust to its new, slender shape. Most physicians will ask the patient to wear a compression garment to aid in recovery. This will help reduce the long-term effects of post-liposuction swelling, bruising, and scarring.

A: It’s difficult to answer “how much” sensitivity you can expect to lose after breast lift surgery but most patients report that they are able to retain complete or near complete sensation. During the initial postoperative period, there may be a temporary loss or decrease in sensation primarily due to swelling. As the swelling subsides, the sensation will return. There is the potential that you may experience a change in the sensitivity of your nipples and the skin of your breast. On occasion, patients have reported that their nipples are “supersensitive.” In this case desensitization, exercises can be performed to diminish the sensitivity. This involves gently rubbing the nipples with cotton ball and then progressing to a more course material.
Less common is the Vertical Scar Technique, which has less scarring than the Wise pattern, but has a vertical scar visible in the middle underside of the breast. The vertical scar has the advantage that it can give the breast a better shape and the scar does eventually fade with time.  I use this technique primarily for breast lifts and breast reductions of any size.
A: In general, no plastic surgeon can guarantee that breastfeeding will still be possible after the breast lift surgery. But in most cases, you should be able to breastfeed after a breast lift if the nipple was left intact during the procedure, and was still connected to all the anatomical structures underneath the nipple. However, if you are planning to become pregnant, its recommended that you wait until after your pregnancy to have a breast lift. Reason being, as your breasts enlarge during pregnancy the skin will stretch. Depending on the elasticity of your skin before pregnancy and the degree to which your breasts enlarge during pregnancy, your breast skin may permanently stretch. In this case the results of breast lift surgery performed before pregnancy would be lost.
Patients should be aware that, when liposuction is combined with other procedures, their risks for post-surgical complications will be a bit higher. Some doctors will space the procedures out to avoid these potential effects. Others may suggest removing less fat when liposuction is combined with other treatments. Although a few surgeons do not advise combining multiple procedures, most will do so, simply using extra precautions to protect their patients' safety. Although recovery time will be longer when procedures are combined, patients will only have one recovery rather than two separate procedures and two separate periods of downtime.
You’re going to feel sore, especially during the first few days after liposuction. You’ll be swollen and bruised, and you’ll need a few days to rest before you head back to work. “I generally recommend that my patients take between three and seven days off after liposuction, depending on how many areas were worked on and your pain tolerance,” says Dr. Samuel Sohn, a plastic surgeon in Henderson, Nevada. Your doctor will prescribe pain medication, though you may find you need only an over-the-counter pain reliever.
Because of the large pattern of skin cutout with the Inverted T scar (Wise-pattern) the scar complication can look really bad. Here is a photo of one of these wounds using this surgical technique. Although it is not a life threatening problem, this wound complication at the incision location could certainly look very scary to the patient. In addition to scars, this procedure also tends to flatten the breast, instead of making them perky. I no longer perform this technique in my practice as I feel that the other surgical techniques are far superior.
Most importantly, in cases of breast lifts with implants, there are hardly any wound complications with this technique. There’s a good reason for this. When you add an implant to a breast lift, you are filling up the skin envelope and, as a result, you do not need to take out much skin at all. You really only need to take out enough skin to move the areola to the new position higher up. The procedure is safer, and has less scars. That’s why the Benelli is my favorite.
Dr. Cohen specializes in breast lifts, augmentations, revisions and reductions as well as breast cancer reconstructions. A long time dream of Dr. Cohen’s was to travel to developing countries and provide expert surgical care to those who have no other possible access to medical care. This became a reality in 2007 when she became a founding member and Vice President of ISMS Operation Kids.

Thank you for your question.  This is a difficult question to answer because there is not a set price for liposuction.  Price should not be your determining factor for choosing who does your procedure.  Your first question should be is this individual properly trained?  Are they a board certified plastic surgeon?  How many of these procedures do they do?  Also, what is the technique that they are going to use?  Prices are usually determined by the location that you want treated and the facility you are having the surgery.  We do have a policy of giving larger discounts when there are multiple areas being treated at the same time. Please remember higher prices do not always equal a better result, but the lowest price may not be the best decision either.  This is a decision that should be based on trust and experience.

Before choosing your surgeon, you should do a bit of research about the different types of liposuction available. If you know other people who have had liposuction, you should ask them about the method their doctors used and how they felt about the treatment. That way, if you are interested in a particular technique or technology, you can find a doctor who provides the treatment you desire.
Liposuction of the entire thigh (circumferential liposuction) is not recommended due to an increase in swelling and lengthened recovery time. Rather, liposuction should be performed in a series of surgeries spaced about one month apart. Focusing the procedure on one specific area of the hips allows the lymphatic tissue to drain excess fluids quickly and evenly throughout the thigh, yielding more desirable results in a shorter amount of time. Liposuction of the thighs may be performed with thigh lift surgery.

In 1977, Fisher and Fischer reviewed 245 cases with the planotome instrument for treating cellulite in the lateral trochanteric (hip-thigh) areas. There was a 4.9 per cent incidence of seromas, despite incision-wound suction catheters and compression dressings; 2.0 per cent of the cases presented pseudo-cyst formation that required removal of the capsule (cyst) through a wider incision (+ 5.0 mm) and the use of the panotome.[14][15]

Every cell in the body has a specific function that is vital to the body's overall health and well-being. Fat cells are designed to store any unused energy from the food we eat. The body uses fat for insulation, shock absorption, and an emergency source of fuel. However, while your body does need some fat, extra cells can be eliminated without damage to your overall health. Liposuction is an effective fat removal treatment and can help eliminate unwanted pockets of fat that accumulate disproportionately in various areas of the body. The specific areas where your body stores fat are determined by body type, which largely depends on genetics. Following this procedure, you could enjoy a more pleasing, contoured appearance.
Be very careful!  You are a set up for a bad result.  50% of my revisional patients are people who were just like you and did not want what they NEEDED and ended up making compromises and ended up with terrible results.  The irony is they ended up getting what they NEEDED originally except with more cost and suffering.  You need what you need.  Do not just fill your breast to make up for excess skin. It will look good for a short period of time while it is swollen and then bottom out.  Spend more time looking for a surgeon who gets good results and closes incisions well.  The vertical scar can in many instances become invisible.

Botox Breast Lift: There are more and more uses of Botox that researchers are finding as time goes on. A Botox Breast Lift is not an approved use of botox by the FDA. Here’s how it works: Botox is injected into your pectoralis muscle. This causes a relaxation of the muscles in the chest and your back muscles then begin to lift your breast. The lifting is not dramatic though and it only lasts about three to four months. The advantage, however, is that there are no scars because surgery was not done. There’s also no recovery time as there is with a breast lift surgery.
You may notice an improved body contour immediately (for instance, if you have your saddlebags suctioned), but your results will be disguised initially by swelling. Swelling should improve dramatically after six weeks and continue to go down over the next six months. If you think you’ll need more lipo to get the result you want, wait at least six months for the swelling to subside, then evaluate the situation with your surgeon. Just keep in mind that you’ll continue healing and seeing better results for up to a year.
