Finally, there’s the so-called scarless lift. Women who are seeking a mild lift but are dead set against leaving scars anywhere on their breasts may opt for a technique that uses a network of dissolving surgical threads inserted through tiny incisions along the collar bone, guided under the breast tissue, and then anchored to the collar bone, to create an internal bra of sorts. Scar tissue forms around the threads, theoretically providing support to lift the nipple.
Although the removed fat cells are unlikely to grow back, body fat has been shown to return to preliposuction levels within a year after the surgery, particularly returning to the abdominal area. Researchers believe the body compensates for the rapid fat loss by putting on more fat. In a trial of 34 women published in the September 2012 edition of the journal "Obesity," the cosmetic benefits of liposuction were lost after one year. A later study, however, suggested that recurrence of belly fat can be avoided by exercise.
A: It’s difficult to answer “how much” sensitivity you can expect to lose after breast lift surgery but most patients report that they are able to retain complete or near complete sensation. During the initial postoperative period, there may be a temporary loss or decrease in sensation primarily due to swelling. As the swelling subsides, the sensation will return. There is the potential that you may experience a change in the sensitivity of your nipples and the skin of your breast. On occasion, patients have reported that their nipples are “supersensitive.” In this case desensitization, exercises can be performed to diminish the sensitivity. This involves gently rubbing the nipples with cotton ball and then progressing to a more course material.
With this procedure, a surgeon creates an incision on or around the perimeter of the areola and later a second outer incision to remove the “donut” of skin around it. The nipple is sutured back to the breast skin, tightening it in the process. This method provides more lift than the crescent, but again only a relatively small amount of sagging can be repaired.
Exercise is important because it helps keep off excess pounds and increases muscle definition. Regular physical activity can also have enormous benefits for overall wellness, decreasing the risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, and depression. There is no need for liposuction patients to suddenly take on an extreme exercise routine. However, they should engage in some type of physical activity at least 5 days a week. Good choices include jogging, walking, biking, yoga, swimming, dance classes, and similar activities. Combined with proper diet, regular exercise can help patients keep their figures trim and toned.
There have been cases of children as young as 12 undergoing liposuction. While this is uncommon, there are rare instances in which a doctor may perform liposuction on a teen, especially after major weight loss that may have left one or two lingering bulges of fat. Generally, a doctor will assess a teenager's emotional maturity and self-esteem before agreeing to perform liposuction. The majority of these patients choose to have one problem area contoured to help with self-esteem issues. Some teens are affected by excess fat under the chin, in the calves, hips, or other areas, and it can be a source of embarrassment and ridicule among peers. In these cases, liposuction can eliminate this fat and produce a more sculpted, toned appearance.
LipoSelection® : This specialized form of liposuction, developed by VASER®, emulsifies fat cells with ultrasound and breaks them up even further with the LipoSelection probe. The doctor can then easily remove the fat with liposuction tubes, leaving the surrounding blood vessels, nerves and other tissue virtually unaffected. This technique involves less discomfort and bruising than most other types of liposuction, but it does cost a bit more than other forms of manual liposuction.

The expected time and effort that is required to accomplish a liposuction surgery is the most important factor in determining the cost of liposuction. Factors that typically affect the surgeon’s time and effort include 1) Number of areas being treated, 2) Size of the patient, 3) Anticipated degree of difficulty. Thus, cost of liposuction of the abdomen alone is less than the cost of doing liposuction on both the abdomen as well as the inner thighs and knees. Similarly, the cost for abdominal liposuction on a patient who weighs 80 kilograms (176 pounds) might be more than the cost for liposuction of the abdomen of a patient who has never weighed more than 60 kilograms (132 pounds). Liposuction is more difficult and requires more time if the patient has previously gained and then lost a significant amount of weight. In any area previously treated with liposuction, the fat often contains scar tissue which makes liposuction in the same area more difficult.
Be very careful!  You are a set up for a bad result.  50% of my revisional patients are people who were just like you and did not want what they NEEDED and ended up making compromises and ended up with terrible results.  The irony is they ended up getting what they NEEDED originally except with more cost and suffering.  You need what you need.  Do not just fill your breast to make up for excess skin. It will look good for a short period of time while it is swollen and then bottom out.  Spend more time looking for a surgeon who gets good results and closes incisions well.  The vertical scar can in many instances become invisible.

Some people believe that they will no longer have to exercise and maintain a proper diet after liposuction. Unfortunately, this is not the case. While liposuction is an excellent way to reduce excess body fat in specific areas, the removal of fat cells is by no means a guarantee against future weight gain. The cells that are removed during liposuction will not regenerate. However, patients may find that if they do not make alterations to their exercise and diet routines after liposuction, they are more apt to gain weight in areas of their bodies that were not previously problematic.


Scars are inevitable after any incision in the skin, of course, because scarring is part of the body’s “self-repair” process. Breast lift surgery, in my experience, is a very satisfying procedure for the vast majority of patients–even with the unavoidable, often minimal, scarring. Scars may be in an anchor shape, in the crease below the breast and from the center of the crease up to the areola, although there are other types of scarring. When you choose an experienced surgeon, you’ll find that your breast lift scars are well hidden, even when wearing low-cut clothing. This is one of the signs of a skilled breast lift surgeon.

One of the most worrisome aspects of breast lift surgery for most patients is the potential for noticeable scarring. As a procedure designed to improve the aesthetic look of your body, a poorly performed procedure can end up leaving noticeable marks, typically under the breast. Fortunately, advancements in technology during and after the procedure have reduced the risk greatly in terms of the creation of scarring that’s noticeable.
Some doctors may use ultrasound waves to break down fat cells before suctioning them out. However, ultrasound technology can be an effective tool for fat reduction, even when it is not used in conjunction with liposuction. Your doctor will apply an ultrasound device to the treatment area, and the waves will gently break down the cells, allowing your body to rid itself of the fat over a period of time. Ultrasound fat reduction treatments, such as Liposonix®, typically take about an hour and involve no anesthesia or downtime. They can also boost collagen production and improve skin elasticity. However, these treatments typically do not result in as much fat removal as surgical liposuction.

To maximize the success of liposuction surgery and minimize your risks, always follow your cosmetic surgeon's instructions for surgical preparation and postoperative care. If you smoke, your cosmetic surgeon will advise you to stop two weeks prior to and following liposuction surgery. You may also choose another avenue for fat removal. There are non-surgical liposuction alternatives available to patients who are not good candidates for liposuction or simply prefer other methods.

While cost is obviously an important consideration when it comes to liposuction, it is not the most important one. Patients should remember that their health and cosmetic satisfaction are ultimately the top priorities. Choosing an inexperienced doctor to save some money could cost far more in the long run if they require a corrective procedure or if they develop serious health complications.
