Recently I read an article on Medscape from the journal “Wounds” about wound healing problems in Breast Reduction and Breast lift (Mastopexy). The article, Treatment of Wounds Following Breast Reduction and Mastopexy With Subsequent Wound Dehiscence With Charged Polystyrene Microspheres, cited that the use of the Inverted T technique (Wise Pattern) has a 10% wound complication rate. IMO, that is a pretty high complication rate, and it is much higher than the other two techniques, the Vertical Scar and the Benelli technique. In my practice, the wound rate with the other scars is less than 5%.

• Vanquish uses radiofrequency energy to melt fat cells, in a painless procedure that lasts about 45 minutes. You’ll have to wait about two weeks to start seeing a difference, with full results apparent in four to eight weeks—and most people need four or more treatments to get the results they want. It has a lower Worth It Rating than either CoolSculpting or WarmSculpting.
Some patients report pain the day after their liposuction surgery. Usually, this discomfort is minor and can be relieved with pain medication and moderate walking. In less than a week after liposuction, most patients are able to move and walk normally, even returning to work with minimal discomfort. Patients should take showers instead of baths for about a week after liposuction. During this time, swelling, bruising, and numbness will begin to go away.

Also known as a vertical lift, this technique requires surgeons to make a keyhole shaped incision on the breast, preserving the nipple but removing any excess skin below it. The areola is then shifted up into its new position, while suturing the skin edges together results in a lollipop shaped scar around the nipple and a vertical line down to the breast crease.
It’s a popular method because the incision enables doctors to reshape breast tissue and insert implants either above or below the muscle, leaving only a small scar along the top of the areola. However, it also has its downsides: only a minimal amount of lift can be achieved, not all sizes and types of implants will fit, and the majority of women desire a bigger boost than this method can deliver.
“Adding a breast implant to the procedure sometimes allows the surgeon to shorten or even eliminate scarring, since the implant will then take up some of the slack caused by the breasts’ sagging,” says Fort Worth, TX plastic surgeon Dr. Jonathan Heistein. “Some breast augmentation patients may even be candidates for a radiofrequency treatment called BodyTite, which can provide a slight lift without requiring additional surgery.”
It's not unusual to see lumpy areas after the swelling starts to go down. This should improve after a few weeks, but wearing a compression garment can help prevent lumps. Less commonly, patients can have a hematoma (a temporary pooling of blood under the skin) or seroma (a pocket of fluid under the skin that requires draining by your doctor); changes in skin color or sensation; or scarring from thermal burning, either above or below the skin (usually an issue only with laser- and ultrasound-assisted lipo, if skin ports aren’t used). If you’re concerned about anything you experience as you recover, don’t hesitate to call your doctor.
Liposuction of the hips is generally successful in creating a more contoured figure. This type of liposuction is usually performed on women, as men are not as susceptible to retaining fat deposits in this area. Patients who undergo liposuction to improve the appearance of the hips may require additional procedures to attain the desired contour. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. Liposuction of the hips may be performed with an extended tummy tuck.
A: In general, no plastic surgeon can guarantee that breastfeeding will still be possible after the breast lift surgery. But in most cases, you should be able to breastfeed after a breast lift if the nipple was left intact during the procedure, and was still connected to all the anatomical structures underneath the nipple. However, if you are planning to become pregnant, its recommended that you wait until after your pregnancy to have a breast lift. Reason being, as your breasts enlarge during pregnancy the skin will stretch. Depending on the elasticity of your skin before pregnancy and the degree to which your breasts enlarge during pregnancy, your breast skin may permanently stretch. In this case the results of breast lift surgery performed before pregnancy would be lost.

Your comfort with the scars are a very personal aspect of the surgery, but to the extent you are able, I urge you to keep in perspective the lesser importance of the incision pattern. I advise patients never to compromise contour for a lesser scar. I’d argue that it is more important to choose a highly experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who is a specialist in cosmetic surgery of the breast and body. Good luck with your surgical journey!

Whether you are expecting to pay for liposuction completely out of pocket, or if you are eligible for some degree of insurance coverage, you have absolutely nothing to lose by contemplating what you really hope to achieve, and discussing those goals with the most reputable surgeon in your area. You may be surprised to find that your surgeon offers more budget-friendly options and accommodations than you anticipate.
Some people believe that they will no longer have to exercise and maintain a proper diet after liposuction. Unfortunately, this is not the case. While liposuction is an excellent way to reduce excess body fat in specific areas, the removal of fat cells is by no means a guarantee against future weight gain. The cells that are removed during liposuction will not regenerate. However, patients may find that if they do not make alterations to their exercise and diet routines after liposuction, they are more apt to gain weight in areas of their bodies that were not previously problematic.
The way our bodies respond to a disciplined and healthy lifestyle is often "unfair." In other words, many of us commit to vigorous regular workouts at the gym and nutritious, balanced diets, only to be left with fat deposits in the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and other areas. The desire to achieve a lean and attractive body tone in spite of the body's refusal to respond the way we want drives hundreds of thousands each year to seek surgical intervention in order to achieve their goals.
Problem areas that are resistant to diet and exercise can often be dramatically improved through liposuction. The body smoothing and contouring possible with liposuction can make an individual look and feel better simply because their clothes fit better. More importantly, their entire figure could be rejuvenated and enhanced after this procedure. Plastic surgery patients who undergo liposuction may even find unexpected benefits of the procedure as they begin to partake in activities that they had previously shied away from because they were unhappy with their appearance.
If you deal with the hassle of body-shaping clothes (such as underwire bras) on a daily basis, then you already understand why breast lift surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures. At The Royal Centre of Plastic Surgery, women choose to undergo this cosmetic enhancement to increase confidence and enhance the shape and appearance of their breasts.
