Exercise is important because it helps keep off excess pounds and increases muscle definition. Regular physical activity can also have enormous benefits for overall wellness, decreasing the risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, and depression. There is no need for liposuction patients to suddenly take on an extreme exercise routine. However, they should engage in some type of physical activity at least 5 days a week. Good choices include jogging, walking, biking, yoga, swimming, dance classes, and similar activities. Combined with proper diet, regular exercise can help patients keep their figures trim and toned.
A Bra Lift with Laser (Laser Bra Lift): Some doctors will want to use a laser bra lift as an insurance policy that your breasts won’t sag. It’s actually not really an alternative to breast lift surgery as it is an extra procedure. In the laser bra surgery, the laser is used to create a bra-like effect that protects the surgical results of the breast lift. Laser energy will always stimulate the production of new collagen fibers, which give you more support of any tissues. Always look at the before and after pictures to see whether or not you think there is enough improvement.

Facial liposuction is most often performed with a micro-cannula using a tumescent technique. In some cases, liposuction of the chin, neck, and jowls, as well as other facial liposuction procedures, can have better results in these problem areas than other surgical techniques. Liposuction can also be more desirable because it minimizes scarring when compared to other type of facial enhancement. This treatment is usually performed on or below the chin and jaw line to reduce the appearance of sagging skin in the neck, a double-chin, or hanging jowls.
“Adding a breast implant to the procedure sometimes allows the surgeon to shorten or even eliminate scarring, since the implant will then take up some of the slack caused by the breasts’ sagging,” says Fort Worth, TX plastic surgeon Dr. Jonathan Heistein. “Some breast augmentation patients may even be candidates for a radiofrequency treatment called BodyTite, which can provide a slight lift without requiring additional surgery.”
Liposuction may seem fairly simple, but the truth is that it can be quite tedious, and requires a high degree of precision and skill. You have everything to gain by seeking a surgeon who excels specifically in liposuction. If that surgeon happens to use advanced technology to carry out the procedure, this could also be a strong indicator that the doctor is especially passionate about liposuction and body contouring, and could be more likely to provide you with satisfying long-term results.
An “Internal” Bra: This is one of the most interesting procedures, as it is a mesh type of bra that is inserted surgically to lift your breasts. The mesh bra provides a little extra structure although over time the mesh is broken down and absorbed by your own tissues. This procedure is called the Breform, and you can expect a surgery of about four hours in the hospital with a few nights in recovery before you are released. The Breform is inserted through a scar in the nipple area or in the crease under the breast.
Problem areas that are resistant to diet and exercise can often be dramatically improved through liposuction. The body smoothing and contouring possible with liposuction can make an individual look and feel better simply because their clothes fit better. More importantly, their entire figure could be rejuvenated and enhanced after this procedure. Plastic surgery patients who undergo liposuction may even find unexpected benefits of the procedure as they begin to partake in activities that they had previously shied away from because they were unhappy with their appearance.

It is normal to have a specific set of wants and desires when considering plastic surgery. Not being able to find a surgeon to meet those goals can be frustrating. It’s your body; you want it to look perfect. Dr. Kao had one such patient named Alexandra who was fed up with surgeons telling her that it was impossible to achieve the breast lift she wanted without extensive scarring. Instead of doing a traditional anchor breast lift and approaching her breast lift from the typical angle, she pushed Dr. Kao to think outside of the box and develop a unique breast lift technique that he named after her—the Alexandra Breast Lift—(mentioned in a previous blog) to provide this patient and others like her with the beautiful breast appearance they want.
If, like many others, you have decided to take an aggressive stance against stubborn fat deposits, it is most important to have an intimate understanding of the different factors that can influence the cost of treatment, rather than a hard number used to gauge any estimates you gather. The truth is that liposuction is a highly personalized treatment with many variables, and there are no two identical liposuction procedures. By educating yourself about the way your surgeon's experience, the location of your surgeon's practice, the extent of treatment you require, and other factors influence the cost of this treatment, you can make better choices and increase your chances of achieving long-term satisfaction.
Technically, any licensed doctor can perform liposuction, but not all doctors offer the same degree of expertise. For example, you would not want a podiatrist performing your cosmetic procedure. For your safety and ultimate satisfaction, you should always choose a physician who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. To receive this certification, a doctor must have had three to five years of medical training with two to three of them focused on cosmetic surgery. Additionally, doctors must pursue ongoing education to maintain their certification.
Because of the large pattern of skin cutout with the Inverted T scar (Wise-pattern) the scar complication can look really bad. Here is a photo of one of these wounds using this surgical technique. Although it is not a life threatening problem, this wound complication at the incision location could certainly look very scary to the patient. In addition to scars, this procedure also tends to flatten the breast, instead of making them perky. I no longer perform this technique in my practice as I feel that the other surgical techniques are far superior.
Dr. Kao believes that the best results are achieved when the correct procedure is performed on the right patient. The Alexandra Breast Lift can be performed with or without implants and can provide beautiful results on specific patients. However, if you aren’t the right patient for this technique, Dr. Kao will evaluate your needs and develop a treatment plan that works for you. Stay tuned for our next blog on breast lift candidates and the consultation process.

There is a basic principle that applies to most cash-pay health care procedures: the more reputable the surgeon, the more surgery will likely cost. A surgeon with considerable experience and recognition in the field of body sculpture can understandably command a higher fee. When you add advanced technology used for the benefit of the patients, this can also drive a price higher. Using lasers and radiofrequency in liposuction has been proven to provide even better results, but this equipment is expensive, and requires special training.

Liposuction is often combined with other procedures, such as a tummy tuck, as part of a mommy makeover. The fat that’s removed can also be purified and transferred to the face, butt, breasts, or other areas to restore lost volume or create more fullness. You’re a good candidate for liposuction if you have a BMI (body mass index) of 30 or below. If you’re looking for a weight-loss solution or cellulite treatment, liposuction isn’t your best bet.

While there is no upper age limit for patients who want to have liposuction, there are risks associated with any type of surgery. Therefore, patients should be in basically good health in order to safely undergo the procedure. Patients who suffer from serious medical conditions or who take certain medications may not be good candidates for liposuction. Consult with your primary care physician and plastic surgeon to find out whether you are an appropriate candidate for this procedure. Because liposuction removes fat but does not tighten skin, patients with good skin elasticity tend to experience the most aesthetically pleasing results. Older patients typically have less supple skin than younger patients.
• Vanquish uses radiofrequency energy to melt fat cells, in a painless procedure that lasts about 45 minutes. You’ll have to wait about two weeks to start seeing a difference, with full results apparent in four to eight weeks—and most people need four or more treatments to get the results they want. It has a lower Worth It Rating than either CoolSculpting or WarmSculpting.

Some patients report pain the day after their liposuction surgery. Usually, this discomfort is minor and can be relieved with pain medication and moderate walking. In less than a week after liposuction, most patients are able to move and walk normally, even returning to work with minimal discomfort. Patients should take showers instead of baths for about a week after liposuction. During this time, swelling, bruising, and numbness will begin to go away.
